Abstract
The 1970s was an era known for the Vietnam War protests, Watergate and the killing of four students at Kent State University. It was a time of bright colors — when kitchens were decorated with lime and orange decor — and the psychedelic use of drug experimentation that became commonplace among youth who wanted to find themselves. “Tune in, drop out” were the buzzwords for young people, who lost themselves in the music of Led Zeppelin and other bands with loud messages. This memoir provides a window to a different generation, a time when the innocence of youth and teenage idols was quickly replaced by the grownup realities of war, free sex and drugs, and a record of a young girl’s attempt to find herself amidst the turmoil and trauma at this time.
