Abstract

The California Class Size Reduction (CSR) initiative is problematic in that it has not made the connection between appropriate teacher support and the success of downsized classes. By utilizing results from teacher questionnaires and classroom observations from a Bay area elementary school, I found that the relationship between specific identified characteristics seem to be independent of class size. Good teaching techniques are more a matter of good teachers than any other factor found in my study.
