Abstract
ARTWORKS: A Traveling Art Program is a component of the Gallery of Contemporary Arts’ children's curriculum, providing art experiences for children confined to hospitals, residential homes, and related agencies in El Paso County, Colorado. This population includes medically ill, handicapped, economically disadvantaged, and physically and emotionally abused children. The ARTWORKS program is structured similarly to the Traveling Art Program (1987) of the Pacific Art League in Palo Alto, California. The article on page 18 describes this Palo Alto program. ARTWORKS will provide the enjoyment of art experiences to temporarily institutionalized children in emotional and/or physical pain.
