Abstract/Description

Within my study, I examined the positive impact music integration plays on kindergarten to fifth grade classrooms and its role in improving language arts. In order to gather data, I looked at numerous case studies completed on various music integration strategies within the core subject of language arts, and also directed an interview to three teachers from Marin County and Santa Clara County elementary schools.

Results showed that most students improved greatly in the area of language arts with music in the background of the classroom or implemented directly into the language arts lesson. Moreover, all teachers interviewed employed similar views about music in the classroom and how it can be a positive tool for them to use. If classrooms across the country implemented music into their classrooms, within the core subject of language arts, it is highly probable that students will vastly improve in writing, reading, comprehension, etc. while giving them the motivation to keep improving these skills.
