Abstract/Description
as the world caves in is an exploration of the personal questions and emotions that came up throughout this past summer and fall. A strangling feeling that I was ‘born into the end of the world’ led me to examine, through choreography and filmmaking, what might be important to me in the last moments before the world (as we know it) ends. Throughout the process of creating this film, I researched pleasure, despair, forgiveness, anger, gratitude, grief, and love. I played with the aesthetics of celebration to investigate how joy and sorrow can—and often do—cohabitate, particularly in endings. I asked questions about what I would be longing for in that moment, and found what I cherish in this moment.
