Abstract/Description
Being at the bedside, nurses may have the closest and most frequent interactions with patients and are ideally positioned to assess emotional and physical needs that arise in the post-stillbirth period. Asking nurses who have been exposed to cases of stillbirth events about their patient-care practices may be useful in pinpointing areas for further research on effectiveness of such interventions.
The purpose of this descriptive study is to explore the type and frequency of interventions used by nurses when working with patients experiencing stillbirth. The senior nursing student hypothesizes that during the intrapartum and postpartum periods, nurses implement a large variety of up-to-date interventions at a high frequency for mothers who have suffered stillbirth.
