Abstract

This thesis project focused on training practicing clinicians (occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech therapists, and nurses) to engage in evidence-based practice (EBP). The training included writing a PICO (Patient, Intervention, Control, Outcome) question, performing a literature search, writing an evidence brief, and sharing information with colleagues. The thesis team wrote an instruction manual "The EBP Guidebook: A Resource Guide for Clinicians’ Self-Development in Evidence-Based Practice,” and conducted trainings at three clinical sites. Assessment of the project was done by using pre- and post-tests on the components of EBP as well as feedback from the participants about the presentation and “The EBP Guidebook." Overall results were positive and demonstrated some benefit for the clinicians who participated.
