Abstract
This project was developed to implement a four week school-based preventative intervention workshop that provided occupation-based education to eighth grade females at Kent Middle School. The workshop was developed to promote healthy lifestyles through engagement in healthy activities. An average of nine adolescent females, aged 12-13 years old, attended the weekly workshop. An evaluation was completed by the workshop participants at the beginning of the first workshop and at the end of the fourth workshop. Seven pre and post evaluations were compared to determine the effectiveness of the workshop. The intervention workshop was successful as evidenced by the majority of the adolescent females meeting the learning objectives. Many of the females experienced an increase in body satisfaction and a decrease in sedentary leisure activities. Results from this intervention workshop indicate a need for more school-based prevention intervention workshops on body satisfaction in eighth grade and freshman year females.
