Deer in Lucas Valley

Description
On Friday mornings if I don’t have an early meeting, I often go out at dawn for a slightly longer hike or run than I manage on other weekdays; it’s one of the times when I feel most peaceful, with the end of the work week approaching. This was one of those mornings, on a hill I’ve climbed hundreds of times above Big Rock in Lucas Valley. I love looking down from this peaceful place to the waking valley below, and all the way across misty hills and the light-catching Bay to Mt. Diablo floating in the distance. On this July morning, the warm glow of the light and the companionship of the deer were all I needed to feel perfectly in balance for a precious time.
