Abstract

The purpose of this dissertation is to study the narrator as gossip in Bon Juan. In a short first chapter, I present the composite character of the narrator giving appropriate illustrations. I prepare for the second chapter by pointing up the importance of the narrator as gossip and by showing the suitability of the stanza form of Bon Juan. In the second chapter of the dissertation I study the narrator as gossip in Canto I of Bon Juan, I use the third chapter, by way of conclusion, to consider significant development of the gossip in the subsequent cantos.
