Abstract
Upon returning to college after several years of raising small children, the writer found graduate study leading her in two directions at once, into science and music courses, while continuing her private piano teaching. Secondary credential course requirements such as Secondary School Curriculum and Measurement and Evaluation made the writer aware for the first time of the comparatively few musical aptitude tests that are frequently used. Her curiosity was sufficiently aroused to ask several music teachers which methods they preferred, and upon receiving a great variety of replies a questionnaire was sent out to several school districts in the San Francisco Bay Area, results of which small survey appear in this paper.
