Abstract

This is a literature review on the long-term effects and side effects Ritalin has on children who have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Many students with ADHD are prescribed Ritalin to control their behavior. The focus of this research addresses the question, does Ritalin cause any long-term effects on children diagnosed with ADHD? The purpose of this review of the literature is to examine the research on these children and gather information on the longterm effects of Ritalin. The literature review addresses the following questions:

  1. What behaviors are common in children with ADHD?
  2. What are the side effects?
  3. What are the potential future problems?
