Abstract
This paper has presented the Death/Rebirth process as a model of spiritual ascent. It has provided examples of how this transformative process can be facilitated through art therapy with three adolescent girls who had each lost a parent. Spiritual ascent has been shown to be experienced as a death/rebirth dynamic which has actual and symbolic manifestations. The grieving process experienced by the three subjects in the study was presented from the perspective of the potential for spiritual growth inherent in the process of the resolution of grief.
