Abstract
The subject matter of this paper was the utilization of art therapy in a behaviorally oriented day program specifically for severely to profoundly developmentally disabled adults. The paper was a case study of a particular male student in the program. This student has a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia with mild mental retardation. Art therapy in use with this student was intended to be of a direct therapeutic benefit to him and produced concrete results by way of daily detailed notes, consisting of figures, tables, and observations. The research detailed a direct improvement and definitive growth in development of the art work and also observed behavioral gains over a seven month period.
