Elder Care Alliance and Front Porch

Project Description

This project explores the impact of creative collaboration on social connections between participants and volunteers in a friendly visiting program to answer the following questions:

  1. What is the significance of a participatory based research process where older adults, staff, and volunteers are all primary contributors?

  2. How can we co-design programming to elevate a sense of meaning and connection for staff, participants, and volunteers?

Comments

Front Porch is a nonprofit that provides senior living communities, programs, and more. We believe aging should be a positive experience and that is why we support well-being every step of the way. Our Community Services offer support to older adults throughout California and nationally in the areas of nutrition, housing, social connection, and creativity. Social Call, a Front Porch Community Service, is a friendly visiting program that thoughtfully matches older adults and volunteers for regular creative conversations and ultimately, a greater sense of belonging.

Elder Care Alliance is an integrated system committed to serving and enriching the holistic wellness of older adults and those who care for them through education; innovation; and a network of professionals, care communities and partners. Our commitment to holistic wellness drives everything we do at Elder Care Alliance. This person-centered approach means we are dedicated to addressing all dimensions of wellness. This commitment extends beyond our residents to include our employees. Initiatives like our employee wellness program exemplify our commitment to the health and happiness of our staff, which leads to healthy and happy residents.
