Abstract/Description

As time goes by, social roles changes and evolves into something greater. The system that influences our mindsets created this unintentional (half of the time intentional) divide between Females and Males. This divide that the Patriarchy taught us basically breaks apart on who is Feminine (inferior) and who is “Masculine” (superior). Women often have to fight for their rights by being more “masculine” and reach a certain standard that Women can do what Men can do while Men are given this “privilege” of always being the more superior gender to the point of becoming a burden due to always being pressured on being the cold-hearted “Man” till the very end. This social issue is not about who is more of a victim or this gender “battle” that has no end. It’s about being liberated from these social systematic issues that influenced our way of life and finally live our full potential.

I want to create a project that will make people question how we got here and why we think the way we do. This will be done visually through video. This could cause discomfort and/or confusion because of course, Women deal with more oppression than men. But I didn’t want to show a battle of genders and victimize or villainize a gender when the Patriarchy purposefully divided the two genders and created a battle to fight in. I wanted to emphasize the idea that “they” told us what to be. This idea of “they” has been something that caused me to question how our society came to be when it came to our gender roles. In the end, I believe we have the capability to be liberated from what “they” say and we have every right to question what “they” told us.
