"The Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail commemorates the route followed by the 1775–1776 expedition led by Anza from Sonora, Mexico, to the Golden Gate where they established a military post (what we know today as the Presidio of San Francisco). The three-mile Presidio segment traces Anza’s discovery of the first overland route to San Francisco Bay. The journey begins at Mountain Lake where the travelers first camped two centuries ago... From Mountain Lake, visitors can follow in the settlers’ footsteps up through the Public Health Service District and across the Presidio’s high ridgeline, past Immigrant Point Overlook and Rob Hill Campground, ultimately reaching the Golden Gate Bridge."
