Draw Us Something: Ekphrasis in Reverse, a Meeting of Minds
Cara Makuh is a nurse, wife, mother of two grownups currently living in San Anselmo, California. She is a writer who likes to sing, fish, hike and take long walks at night. In December 2019, she earned a MA in Humanities from Dominican University with an emphasis in Creative Writing. Her poems and short stories are drawn from her broad scope of the world and all of the exceptional, and often wacky, situations she seems to get herself into, which could easily be classified as "semi-fiction" by the time the memory makes it onto paper.
Abstract
My project is a collaborative effort between my writings and various visual artistic responses. I submitted my poems and short stories to volunteers who agreed to send me a visual or illustrative response to what they read. There were no rules or formatting requirements. The response could be any kind of visual artwork, from a painting, line drawing, or even a photograph. Posting the call for volunteers on Facebook and using simple digital platforms for sharing writing and artwork proved instrumental in enabling this project to reach a global audience.
