Abstract
American social norms have historically admonished the pursuit of women-driven sexuality. Technology is structured to comment on the social construction of the tasks it was designed to implement. So what is the commentary of a formerly heralded electromechanical vibratory device? Learn how androcentric views of sexuality and their implications for women shaped the development not only of women’s sexual pathologies but also the instruments designed to cope with them.
