Description
In this episode of Rebelcast, sisters Sara and Kobe Turangan discuss how the identities they associate with influence how society treats certain groups of people. From their background of knowing American Sign Language and working with those who have IDD (intellectual and developmental disabilities), the two regard how social justice must be advocated for in modern times. The sisters include their personal experiences studying “opposite” careers, their cultural standards coming from an Asian-American household, and how society has been responding in regards to the Asian community. From observing how their identities help them communicate with others, how others communicate with them, and how various forms of communication shaped their identities, the sisters express their thoughts in depth for an overall call for change.
