Abstract
The definition I have found for myself as an art therapist defies a neat, precise statement. It is the culmination of many experiences which have shaped my understanding. My Background in art and psychology sparked my interest in art therapy. In the course of my graduate level education, I have examined many different theoretical perspectives. Confronting the practical difficulties of my first field placement, I met with discouragement. I regained my faith in art therapy through the direct experience of art's healing capabilities. I Has then able to resume my internship and developed an intuitively-based approach as an art therapist.
