Abstract
This empirical study compares the results of the “bridge drawings” of Veterans (n=35) by 17 Likert scales to see if there was a difference between those who complete a chemical dependency rehabilitation program and those who do not complete. The findings suggest that there is a difference in the drawings of the two groups with statistical significance at the 0.10 level on 2 of the scales, logic and color on the left. The results suggest that the “bridge drawing” can be used as an assessment tool during treatment for chemical dependency. The study provides further research on the Hayes and Lyons “bridge drawing” and the Gantt (1990) FEATS instrument. There are examples of the scales and the training manual in the study.
