Abstract

This is a grant proposal to document the use of art therapy in working with children with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder resulting from the war in Croatia and Bosnia. The goal of the grant is to further educate healing professionals and those interested in children's welfare in the current use of and exchange of information regarding the use of Art Therapy with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Many of the children of Croatia and Bosnia are suffering from PTSD from the war that has been taking place in the region in the last 4 years. The proposal involves the author travelling to the newly formed republics of Croatia and Bosnia, and interviewing facilitators and child participants of the treatment programs The programs that will be reviewed are those implemented by the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF), in schools, libraries, and refugee camps, in addition to front line combat areas.
