Abstract/Description

In our society today, stress has become a common place for people due to the constant frustration and the high demands of living our lives. Too much stress has a major effect on our body and our overall well-being. A high level of stress, especially for college students is more damaging because it affects all aspects of the students’ life. It affects their chances of finishing a traditional four year course due to the implications of too much stress throughout their college career. Implications such as sleep deprivation which can lead to developing sleeping disorders, and the psychological effects of stress, is very harmful to their health. All of these aspects combined are the major cause of high levels of stress for college students and in return stress becomes the factor in altering their chances of finishing their college careers and having a poor academic performance. There are numerous research studies that had been conducted throughout time to explore how stress affects the lives of college students. Colleges and universities should focus on reducing stress levels on the students because high stress level among students could lead them to developing sleeping disorders, psychological effects, and poor nutrition which altogether affect students’ academic performance
